Would you like to visit Normandy but don’t have much time? Normandie Rando offers cycling trips along the coast so you can discover the “Côte Fleurie” over a weekend or short break. These cycling holidays are perfect for lovers of sandy beaches, architecture and nature! All you have to do is arrive in our beautiful region and we’ll take care of everything else: accommodation, bikes and guides.

Getaway along the flower-filled coast

Starting from Caen, you will follow the Orne Canal along the cycle path to reach the Pegasus Bridge, an iconic site of D-Day. Then you have several choices: cross Sallenelles Bay, where you can watch migratory birds, or cross the countryside via the beautiful village of Beuvron en Auge.
Continue your bike ride to Cabourg.

The next day, you will reach the small seaside town of Houlgate and then Villers sur Mer. Here, don’t hesitate to take a short walk in the Blonville-Villers marshes. From Blonville, a pretty cycle path will take you to the famous seaside resort of Deauville with its magnificent half-timbered bourgeois houses, then to Trouville and its fishing port.

Discovering local gastronomy

During your cycling weekend in Calvados, you can enjoy authentic Norman cuisine that rewards every pedal stroke. Between stages of your all-inclusive holiday, treat yourself to farmhouse cider, famous Norman cheeses such as Livarot, Pont-l’Évêque and Camembert, not to mention the coastal seafood, shellfish and fish caught that day, before finishing with a touch of sweetness with the traditional teurgoule. These gourmet getaways, easily accessible from our secure routes, add a convivial and tasty dimension to your cycling holiday in Normandy.

Itinerary

DAY 1: From Caen to Cabourg

Distance to cover: 29 ou 55 km (18 or 34 miles)

Hop on your bike, which we will deliver to the station or your hotel, and start your day by following the cycle path that runs alongside the peaceful Orne Canal.
Cross the Pont de Bénouville: Pegasus Bridge, which was a strategic point during the landings.
You will then arrive at Sallenelles Bay, where you can take the time to observe the migratory birds that come to enjoy this haven of peace and rest during their long journey.
A stop at the Merville Franceville Battery will allow you to walk through the various blockhouses and discover the history of this German army fortification. (entrance fee applies)

The other option takes you inland, where you can discover the magnificent village of Beuvron en Auge as you cycle along small country roads winding through stud farms and apple orchards.

You end your day in Cabourg. Dip your feet in the white sand of the beach, then stroll through its neighbourhoods with their exceptional Belle Époque architecture.

Night in Cabourg.

DAY 2: From Cabourg to Trouville

Distance to cover: 27 km (16.7 miles)

Today, you are just a few kilometres away from your destination.
Head east to reach the small seaside town of Houlgate. Continue on your way across the Pays d’Auge plateau, which rises to around 100 metres and drops down to the sea in the form of a cliff known as Les Vaches Noires. You will then arrive at Villers-sur-Mer.
If you feel like it, take the time to stroll through the Blonville-Villers marshes, an area of great ecological richness.
Then follow a pretty cycle path that will take you to Tourgéville before arriving at your destination: the legendary town of Deauville, considered one of the most attractive towns in Normandy with its casino, palaces, listed villas, racecourses, marinas, golf courses and nightclubs.
Continue on to neighbouring Trouville, which owes its charm to its authenticity and fishing port, and enjoy a pleasant night at your hotel.

End of the tour or additional night in Deauville/Trouville.
