  • During World War 2 Battle of Normandy, D-day landing beaches have seen the largest seaborne invasion in history. This operation led to the liberation of France from Nazi control.
    During thoses 3 days of cycling, you will realize how impressive D-day was. You can feel the bravery of the boys. You cycle through very pleasant rural country side to get to the strategic sites on the landing beaches and the major museums and memorials.


  • D-day landing beaches, from Juno to Utah
  • Cycle the bank of the Seulles river where you will see numerous pretty churches, chateaux and the peaceful Canadian cemetery.
  • Ride along the coast (Gold beach)
  • Visit Arromanches with its impressive artificial harbour and its museum
  • Ride through a very nice part of the Bessin to get to Omaha beach and its impressive American cemetery
  • Discover the nice countryside around Carentan known for top quality butter and camembert cheese.
  • Bayeux, home of the Bayeux Tapestry, which depicts the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England

Bike tour itinerary : Normandy cycling: the D-Day Beaches

  • D1 
  • Arrival in Bayeux
    • You must find some time to visit the famous tapestry, the cathedral, and the commonwealth war museum, which are allocated in the Centre of the town, as well as the wonderfully preserved old part of the town. Being the allies head quarter soon after the landing, Bayeux has not been bombed and is extremely well preserved

  • Bayeux to Bayeux
  • 40km / 52 km /
    • We first cycle east on the south bank of the Seulles river till its estuary and the small town of Courseulles on Juno Beach. On this easy and pleasant ride, you will see numerous pretty churches and chateaux and in the village of Creully, you can visit the chateau of the same name.

      On this itinerary, we will pass the peaceful Canadian cemetery.

      The port of Courseulles is known for the quality of its sea food and it will make the best place for lunch.

      From Courseulles, we ride westward along the coast (Gold beach) in order to visit Arromaches with its impressive artificial harbour and its museum.

      We still go west for a bit before returning Bayeux along the very pretty Aure River.

  • Bayeux to Carentan
  • 55km / 68 km /
    • Joining the new cycling way, you ride through a very nice part of the Bessin to get to Omaha beach and its impressive American cemetery at Colleville sur mer. After la pointe du Hoc, we suggest a quiet road south, passing near the German cemetery at La Cambe before entering the Natural park to find your accommodation in the centre of Carentan

  • Carentan to Carentan
  • 48km / 58km / 76km /
    • We will first ride through the March, turned into pastures to give the area of Isigny and Carentan the reputation of top quality better and camembert cheese. Flat with many water canals, this makes a very pleasant cycling.

      We then get back to the coast at Utah beach. After visiting the village of Sainte-Mère-Eglise, we will make our way back to Carentan.
