The idea behind this Burgundy luxury tour is very simple. You will dscover fine wines of the Bourgougne area in magnificent stately homes. We collect you on arrival at the station in Beaune and along to Dijon for an active, gastronomic and elegant luxury tour in Burgundy.
Beaune is the magnificent city of Bourgogne wines and also an historic town. In fact, the old Gaul and then Roman sanctuary was also the residence of the Dukes of Bourgogne until the XIVth century! The centre of the town is still surrounded by remparts built in the XVth century and the whole area can be visited on foot. The famous hospices, the wine museum, the old wine cellars are not to be missed!
The first day on a bike! Now that you have had a good night's sleep, you are ready to set off south in the direction of theCôtes de Beaune. After passing through the villages Pommard and Volnay you will be in what is the best of theChardonnay area ...Mersault, Puligny and Chassagne-Montrachet! The area is ideal for cycling. Not too steep, not too flat, just gently hilly. Pratically no traffic and wine cellars in each village which help to make the outing a memorable experience! To return to Beaune you can choose a downhill route passing through the splendid castle at Rochepot, the village at St Romain and its limestone hills.
Today you will cycle north. Rapidly after the hills of Aloxe-Corton your path will take you through the little streets of Pernand-Vergelesse and you will find yourself on the hills above Beaune. After a short stop at Nuits-Saint-Georges you will carry on through the superb villages of Côtes des Nuits and the vintage wines of Vosne-Romané and Chambolle-Musigny.
You are now about fifteen kilometers away from Dijon. After a small loop to admire the city of the Dukes of Bourgogne and lunch in the bustling market place, you will set off for the vineyards via Marsannay-la-Côte until you get to Gevrey-Chambertin. A longer loop takes you through the hilly area before descending down to Dijon along the Bourgogne canal.
We drop you off at the station at Dijon or to your car in Beaune.
Attached is a photo from our day touring Normandy with you. I’m really pleased with all my photos from that day. You did a great job and we had a terrific time.
