  • You are time limited but you want a real feeling about what happened in the summer 1944?

    This short escape is for you! You cycle the beaches; you see the major memorials and the best museums, the towns and cities of Normandy.


  • Bayeux, home of the Bayeux Tapestry, which depicts the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England
  • Ride through a very nice part of the Bessin to get to Omaha beach and its impressive American cemetery
  • Cycle the bank of the Seulles river where you will see numerous pretty churches, chateaux and the peaceful Canadian cemetery.
  • Visit Arromanches with its impressive artificial harbour and its museum
  • Pegasus Bridge, dedicated to the men of 6th Airborne Division and their role during the Battle of Normandy from June to September 1944

  • Arrival in Bayeux
    • You must find some time to visit the famous tapestry, the cathedral, and the commonwealth war museum, which are allocated in the centre of the town, as well as the wonderfully preserved old part of the town. Being the allies head quarter soon after the landing, Bayeux has not been bombed and is extremely well preserved

  • Bayeux to Arromanches

    • From Bayeux and the commonwealth memorial, we head north-west through green pastures and apple orchards until Omaha beach and the American war cemetery of Colleville-sur-Mer From there you ride eastwards along the coast. The fishing harbor of Port-en-Bessin will be the right place for a break. After a stopover at the German battery of Longues-sur-Mer it is a short downhill to the Mulberry harbor of Arromanches-les-Bains on Gold Beach. From your hotel, facing the sea you can contemplate the scene and make this evening memorable!

  • Arromanches to Caen
  • 38km / 55 km /
    • After hopefully a great sunrise for breakfast you start cycling eastward to reach Juno Beach and the Canadian memorial at Courseulles-sur-Mer. From there you follow the little Mue River bed southward to the village of Fontaine-Henry and its pretty Chateau. Another 10km east will bring you to Pegasus Bridge on the Orne Valley. The landing target of the British parachutes and the beginning of the longest day! You cycle the tow path along the Canal to get to the centre of Caen and your hotel located in the area around the chateau whish was saved from the bombs

      Caen: The Capital of Lower Normandy. The city that Rommel didn't want to give in was severely bombed by the allies, killing thousands of civilians. Caen has been reconstructed around the old Chateau of William the conqueror and is today a lively city.
