Cotentin Peninsula hiking tour
Hiking trip details : Cotentin Peninsula
Looking for a hiking holiday off the beaten track, in one of the most beautiful and wild regions of Normandy? The Cotentin Peninsula is for you !
Depart from Cherbourg to discover Normandy's wildest area
Your walking tour starts in the port city of Cherbourg, the maritime gateway to the Cotentin region, home to no less than 5 different ports (cruising, military, fishing, commercial and yachting) ! If you have time, a visit to the Cité de la Mer and the submarine Le Redoutable is a must ! Then, head west on the customs path, the GR 223, where you will discover the green landscapes of Landemer before reaching the smallest port in France : Port Racine!
The following day, you will hike among the breathtaking landscapes of the Pointe de La Hague: the Goury Lighthouse, Ecalgrain Bay and the Nez de Jobourg ! Rocky coasts, windswept landscapes, houses and low stone walls follow one another in this corner of the world rightly nicknamed "Little Ireland"!
Further south, you will reach the Massif Dunaire de Biville which stretches for several kilometres and continue your journey to the Port of Dielette. Then, through dunes and sandy beaches, you will reach the seaside resort of Barneville Carteret, still with a view of the Channel Islands on the horizon !
From the picturesque Port de Portbail, you follow the beach and cross the impressive oyster beds of the Cotentin. Your stay ends in Agon Coutainville, a lively seaside resort and an ideal place to eat and relax !
